- Leaf word hunt. Write one letter on each of several paper leaves scattered around the room; child collects them in order to build a word.
- Gratitude blending. Say a word slowly, sound by sound ("c-o-r-n"); child blends it, then says one thing they're grateful for starting with that word's first sound.
- Pie-slice sounds. Draw a pie divided into slices, one letter per slice; child names the sound in each slice moving clockwise.
