Everything you need to teach phonics, in one plan

No more guessing which sound comes next or printing piles of worksheets. My Plan tells you today’s lesson and keeps track of what each child knows.

Lessons in the right order

SATPIN first, then the rest of the alphabet, blending, digraphs, vowel teams and tricky words — so every new word uses sounds your child already knows.

Show-your-child flashcards

Big letter cards with the keyword picture and the sound, made for sitting side by side. Tap “knew it” or “not yet” as you go.

Games inside every lesson

Each lesson ends with a quick game that practises exactly that lesson’s sounds — no random drills.

Progress for every sound

A sound map shows what’s solid, what’s still wobbly and what’s next. Checkpoints tell you when to move on — never a pass/fail test.

Up to four children

Add each child once; switch between them in a tap. Great for siblings or a small group.

Phone, tablet or computer

It runs in the browser. Sign in on any device and pick up exactly where you stopped.

How a 15-minute lesson works

  1. 1

    Listen

Hear the sound and a handful of words that use it, recorded in US or UK English.

  2. 2

    Learn

See the letter, the keyword picture, the mouth shape and a simple hand action.

  3. 3

    Practise

Two or three tiny tasks you do together — say it, write it, hunt for it at home.

  4. 4

    Play

Short games your child plays on the screen: hear-and-find, sound boxes, build-the-word.

The order your child will learn

My Plan follows the synthetic phonics order used in UK, Australian and many US classrooms. See the full phonics roadmap.

  1. 0

    Getting Ready

Rhyming, syllables, and hearing sounds in words — before a single letter is taught.

  2. 1

    SATPIN

    s, a, t, p, i, n — taught first because they build the most three-letter words fastest.

  3. 2

    Letter Sounds

The remaining 19 letters, finishing the full alphabet by sound (not by name).

  4. 3

    Blending & Segmenting

The bridge skill: pushing sounds together to read, and pulling words apart to spell — practiced from the first week, alongside Stages 1–2.

  5. 4

    Digraphs & Blends

Consonant blends like st, fr and nd, then qu, ch, sh, th, ng, nk — two letters, one sound.

  6. 5

    Vowel Teams & Tricky Words

ai, ee, oa, oo, ar, or and more — plus the words that can't be sounded out at all.

Questions parents and teachers ask

+Is My Plan really free?

Yes. Every lesson, flashcard, game and progress feature is free right now. You only need an email address (or a Google account) to sign in, so your progress can be saved.

+Do I need to download anything?

No. My Plan runs in your web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There’s nothing to install — sign in and start the first lesson.

+What age is it for?

Children aged about 4 to 7 who are learning to read with phonics. Children aged 7 and up can skip the listening warm-ups and start straight at the first letter sounds.

+How long is a lesson?

About 15 minutes: listen, learn, a little practice together, then a short game. Most families do 3 to 5 lessons a week.

+What order are the sounds taught in?

Synthetic phonics order: s, a, t, p, i, n first (they make the most three-letter words), then the rest of the alphabet, blending and segmenting, digraphs like sh and ch, and finally vowel teams and tricky words.

+Can teachers use it with a class or group?

Yes. Add each child as a learner, show the flashcards on a screen for the group, and use the sound map to see who needs another look at a sound.

+How is this different from the free printables and games on this site?

The printables and games are single resources you pick yourself. My Plan puts them into a day-by-day sequence, remembers what each child has done and tells you what to teach next.

+Is my child’s information safe?

You only enter a first name (a nickname is fine) and an age band for each child. Progress is saved to your account so it follows you to other devices, and deleting your account removes it.
