What’s inside
- An instructions page.
- OI words — middle of the word: b-oil, br-oil, c-oil, s-oil, sp-oil, t-oil…
- OY words — end of the word or before a vowel ending: b-oy, cl-oy, r-oyal, s-oy…
Every word in this PDF (37)
Handy for checking the list fits your child before printing, or for making your own games.
boil, soil, broil, spoil, coil, toil, coin, void, foil, voice, join, loin, moist, noise, oil, exploit, point, poise, poison, boy, royal, cloy, soy, coy, toy, decoy, deploy, employ, destroy, convoy, enjoy, corduroy, joy, loyal, oyster, joyful, ploy
How to use it
- Say the sound slowly and feel your mouth glide from "o" to "ee".
- Blend each pair of chunks and write the word.
- Spelling check: say a word and ask "middle or end?" to choose oi or oy.
- Royal breaks the end rule because a vowel follows — a nice example to point out.
