Digraphs Worksheet — SH (Free PDF)
20 sh words — read each word out loud, then write it on the line.
A page of sh words — ship, shop, fish, dish, rush, crash — for the digraph you can stretch out like a hiss.
What’s inside
- An instructions page.
- One practice page: sh-ip, sh-op, f-ish, d-ish, r-ush, cr-ash and more, with the tip "sh is a long hiss — you can stretch it: shhhhh".
Every word in this PDF (20)
Handy for checking the list fits your child before printing, or for making your own games.
ship, dish, shop, rush, fish, crash, wash, flash, brush, fresh, shed, shark, shell, sheep, shut, shore, shine, shirt, wish, cash
How to use it
- Put a finger to your lips and say shhhh together.
- Blend and write each word; notice sh at the start (ship) and at the end (fish).
- Read the list aloud.
- Follow up with the sh vs ch minimal-pairs page.
Watch out for
- Children sometimes write s for sh at the end of words (fis for fish) — say the word slowly and listen to the last sound.
- Crash and rush end in sh; crash also starts with a blend, so check blends were taught.
- Sh never makes two sounds — if your child says "s-h", model it as one long hiss.
