What’s inside
- An instructions page.
- Sort 1: closed, open and magic-e (word bank: bike, cake, cat, fish, go, he, home, she, stamp).

Every word in this PDF (16)
Handy for checking the list fits your child before printing, or for making your own games.
bike, cake, cat, fish, home, she, stamp, beat, bird, boat, bubble, car, nurse, rain, table, turtle
How to use it
- Read each word in the bank aloud.
- Decide which type it matches and write it in that column.
- Check with the answer key at the bottom.
- Ask your child to explain one choice — naming the type is the goal.
Watch out for
- Some words fit more than one type in different syllables (turtle is r-controlled + consonant-le) — sort by the first syllable.
- Magic-e and vowel-team syllables both make long vowels; the spelling decides the type.
- Naming the type matters less than using it to choose the vowel sound.
