How to use it
- Say both consonants of the blend quickly, one after the other: /b/ /l/ — not one merged sound.
- Your child reads the word, then flips to check the picture.
- Sort the cards into two piles: l-blends and r-blends. Say the blend each time a card goes down.
- Point out that a blend is different from a digraph: in "block" you hear b and l; in "ship" s and h make one new sound.
