B/D Discrimination Worksheet (Free PDF)
A circle-the-letter page plus real b/d words mixed together for write & read practice — the two mirror-image letters drilled side by side, not in isolation.
Targeted practice for the most common letter mix-up — b and d — using a memory trick and words where only that letter changes.
What’s inside
- Page 1 — the "bat and ball" / "drum" trick: b has the stick first, then the circle; d has the circle first, then the stick.
- Page 2 — Circle the Right Letter: your grown-up says a word, the child circles b or d to complete ___ed, ___ig, ___og, ___en, ___at, ___un (answer key included).
- Page 3 — Write & Read: b and d words side by side, like b-ed, d-og, b-at, d-ot, b-ag.
Every word in this PDF (14)
Handy for checking the list fits your child before printing, or for making your own games.
right, letter, bed, bun, dog, dot, bat, bag, dad, dig, big, bus, den, dip
How to use it
- Teach the trick with your hands first: bat then ball for b, and a drum stick for d.
- Do page 2 out loud — you say the word, your child listens for the first sound and circles.
- On page 3, your child reads each chunk, blends, and writes the word.
- Keep sessions short and frequent; reversals fade with reading practice, not with long drills.
Who it’s for
Ages 4–7, any time b and d are being confused — common and usually outgrown, most often by age 7–8.
