Magic-E Pack (Free PDF)
4 pages — add a silent E, write the new long-vowel word, plus a draw-it box for each word.
Magic-e with a drawing twist: after writing the new long-vowel word, the child draws it — a quick check that they understood the word, not just decoded it.
What’s inside
- An instructions page.
- Four sheets — Magic E A, I, O and U — with prompts like cap + e →, tap + e →, kit + e →, bit + e →.
- A "Draw it!" box next to each word.
How to use it
- Read the short word, add the e, write the new word.
- Draw the new word in the box — a cape, a tape, a kite.
- If the drawing shows the short word instead (a cap), read both again together.
- Keep the drawings simple; the point is meaning, not art.
Watch out for
- If the drawing shows the short word (a cap instead of a cape), the e was read but not understood — re-read both words.
- Some magic-e words have two meanings (tape, note); any correct drawing counts.
- Keep drawings to a minute — the aim is meaning, not art.
